Ember

A restaurant site you can almost smell

Overview

A site for a twelve-seat chef's counter with the warmth of the room itself — charred palette, candlelight type, and a tasting menu set like poetry.

Restaurant sites are where design goes to die: stock templates, unreadable PDF menus, booking widgets that bounce you to another domain. Ember is the opposite — atmosphere first, and everything works on the phone you're booking from at 11pm.

Design direction

The decisions that give Ember its own personality — and keep it from looking like anything else on this page.

  1. 1

The menu treated as typography — serif courses, dotted leaders, prices set like verse. No PDFs anywhere.

  2. 2

A palette pulled from the room itself: charcoal, cream, and one terracotta ember.

  3. 3

Reservations inline and native-feeling, with tonight's seatings one tap away.

  4. 4

Ruthless mobile performance — tiny pages, instant paint, thumb-first layout.
